Jose Rizal 101

It's almost 3:30 AM and I'm actually supposed to be studying for my midterm exam on RIZAL011. And since I got bored of reading my handouts, I decided to 'google' (every student's best friend) our national hero, Dr. Jose Protacio Alonso Realonda Mercado Rizal.

And I found this very interesting article entitled, Amazing Facts about Jose Rizal: The National Hero. I'll just share some tidbits I found interesting. If you wat, you could read the whole article in here.

SO, DID YOU KNOW...

...that Jose Rizal could write and read at age two and grew up to speak 22 languages including Latin, Spanish, Catalan, German, French, English, Chinese and Japanese. (If I had known this many languages, I'd speak a different language everyday for almost 3 weeks! coool!)

...that quite unusual for a man about to be executed, but his pulse proved to be normal when the Spanish surgeon general requested to take his pulse moments before Rizal’s execution. (talk about calm...)

...that bizarre as it may seem but there is a religious sect, the Rizalista – members of Cruzado, claims that Jose Rizal is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. (I'd totally believe this if Jesus had the same one-sided hairstyle as Rizal, or the opposite, RIzal having long wavy hair nyahaha!)

...that three animal species were named after Rizal:
Draco rizali, a species of flying dragon,

Rachophorous rizali, a species of toad,

(couldnt find an image) and Apogonia rizali, a beetle species.
(there's actually a flying dragon! now i know...)

...that there are people who are spreading statements that Adolf Hitler of Germany and Mao Zedong of China were sons of Jose Rizal. (don't know about Mao Zedong but I actually believe on Hitler's part, just look at the hair! XD)
little wavy, one-sided to the left
straight, one-sided to the right

Some of these may or may not be true. Regardless, I had fun reading it. :D

blogging: an escape from studying?

It's almost a year since I last logged in to this blog, or any blog for that matter. It's not that I was busy to do it, it's because I'm too lazy to blog, hence the blog name.

So why did I suddenly had the urge to do this now? dun dun! the title says it all.

I'm blogging because I don't want to study. I hate studying. I'm your typical college student, you see. Tomorrow is actually the start of our midterms, and yes, I'm cramming but not really. I'm doing this to waste time and I'm pretty sure later on I'm gonna regret doing this instead of studying. I have so little time left and yet I'm still not finishing this post. I only have one exam to take tomorrow though so this isn't that bad of a situation. I actually wanna blog of things I did today, but nah, kapoy!

So, am gonna end here. Oh and one last thing, isn't my new header cute? I made that today too. I'm mentioned that for it to be appreciated. So appreciate! haha :D

i need treatment, fast.

School right now is boring me to a very alarming level. There's not a subject that I don't like this semester, unlike the previous semesters where even if I hate more than half my subjects, there's at least one or two that I like. We're reaching our final examinations and yet I feel like I haven't learned a thing. Not one school-related thing gets me excited anymore. My mind is getting duller (is there such word?) and duller every single day. I even feel like my brain cells have rotten inside my head!

Moreover, the pressure of having this school life is definitely not encouraging me to do good. Pressure from family, my conscience, my schoolmates, my churchmates, almost everyone. The more pressure there is, the more I escape. The escape, I tell you, is really really tempting. And the worst part is, I've given in to it a lot of times. And that is definitely not good. NOT GOOD. Some people might say I'm just being lazy (because I am), but I don't think so. This is beyond laziness, and again, that's not good.

The slightly-good thing about this is, I really want to change. I want to stop. I want to be enthusiastic about school again, I really do. It's just that, I've been pulled away from it, and it's really really hard to go back. If I could turn back time, I've done it a long time ago. I'm sick. I really need to be treated, fast. I don't want to upset the people expecting from me anymore.
I need help.

blogging in an instant

I found this amazing add-on for Firefox (not a big fan of IE). It's called ScribeFire Blog Editor. Using ScribeFire, I can blog in an instant! I just press F8 (hotkey) and voila! I can write a post and publish it on my blog. You can modify the time stamp to publish your post on a certain date. nice, dba! iI'm even using it right now!

This is very very useful especially when my "laziness" is starting and I want to blog something, then all I have to do is press F8! yeah, it's really really cute, I recommend it! Here's a link to ScribeFire:

and I fell in love all over again!

Just after we finished our activities at church,
just when my friends and I were walking past the front gate,
I was just about to leave, then suddenly someone called me from afar,
and when I turned my back,

I.. I.. I fell in love!
I fell in love all over again with my dream car: the Mini Cooper ♥
(akala niyo ah! lain jud kayo nig huna-huna ning uban... :p )

Me and my friends started screaming real loud, it was so cute, and gorgeous, and looked really really cool! It even had a vintage feel to it. I really did think it was vintage, I wasn't able to confirm it though (Di mi friends sa driver). Really, my lost love came back! I first fell in love with a Mini when I saw it driven on the movie "The Italian Job", starring Charlize Theron and Mark Wahlberg. They used the Minis as getaway cars, and they were just so cute! Ever since then, I dreamed of having one of my own, as a personal car, of course. It can't possibly be a family car. Well it can, though you'd be sausages inside.

Anyway, right before I wrote this post, I researched for images of Minis and I found out that just this 2009, its newest model is available: a Mini Cooper Convertible! (see below)

See? It looks really cute! More like a combination of a sports car and a Volkswagen Beatle!
So cute! Kawaii, neh!

introducing THE SOLUTION

I was surfing the net, as usual and I bumped into this article.
Then suddenly, I saw a beam of light, and a voice whispering:

"The Solution.... this is the solution.... read it first, duh!"

HOW TO OVERCOME LAZINESS
Steps:
  1. Try to figure out the single detail or problem which is holding you back. Most likely, the sticking issue is smaller than you think it is, and you can get past it more easily than you think. Whatever it is, don't give up until you find a way to get past it somehow. Remember, it's probably one single, specific problem or detail.
  2. Think about the importance of the problem or goal. Is it something you can actually afford to ignore? Is it something that somebody else can help you with? Can you just forget about this and try a different approach altogether? Are you being too much of a perfectionist?
  3. Convince yourself you can do something. Some who feel they might be "lazy" are actually recreating and reliving unpleasant or dreary "freezes" from childhood. No need to dig into your past. But if you do feel stuck, try jumping up, do a task, and tell yourself "Despite an old habit of freezing up, I can get up right now and be productive!"
  4. Decide to start the work, and you are well on your way to completing it.
  5. Take your time. Break down your job into small steps. Find the way to do them, and do them, in a relaxed and controlled way. Focus aways on one task: the one you are doing, because you'll have time to focus on the other ones. Brains tend to work inefficiently when there is constant pressure to do several things with tight deadlines.
  6. Gear yourself up into action by telling yourself something like: "I want to do this; I want to do this now! So I’ll just do it and rest later". Say it out loud if you have to. You'll feel motivated after this.
  7. Finish a step and cheer up. Completing that task will feel remarkably good, and tell yourself (out loud, if necessary) "Good stuff; you're on a roll; keep this up and you're going to make it to the end of this". Working towards little goals is actually the secret to big success: big successes are just made up of many little continuous successes.
  8. Remember to reward yourself for the very small things you complete or try. If you manage to do something that you didn't the day before, you deserve a nice treat. You need to reward yourself for completing each task, in order to feel good about having pushed yourself in order to get the job done. After the 'small' task is complete, reward yourself by going for a walk for a few minutes or eat some snack or some other small reward/break (or relax doing something you would like to if you have already been out). Doing this will train your mind into wanting to work. As well, cumulative rewards make you feel confident -- and that's the real cure for laziness. Some say you may also want to punish yourself for each step you fail to achieve, but this is ill-advised as it will only reinforce the negative behavior that ultimately leads to avoidance at the prospect of failure.
  9. Continue working. It's hard to get on a roll, so once you're there, jump right onto your next goal as soon as you're done rewarding yourself. The longer you delay re-starting, the harder it will be to re-start. But the sooner you re-start, the more confident you will feel -- and that will reinforce the positive behavior that leads to feeling that you can do anything!
  10. Don't give up. It's one thing to find your motivation. But, it's another thing to keep it going when the going gets tough -- especially when it's an unforeseen problem! The more avoidant you are, the more you will feel like giving up. How to get past the tough point? Tell yourself over and over: "I really want to get past this; I really want to overcome this", until you believe that you actually don't want to give up.
  11. Stay off the couch until you are ready to take a break. And when you do sit, set a time when you will return to your task or to do other activities around the house: read a book, run a load of laundry, write to a friend, etc.
  12. Set some long term goals. If you have goals set up for yourself, you have something to look forward to. Pick goals which are high and will really inspire you. Picture what you really want. Low goals will not really motivate you. Your goals can be to save to buy a home, that red sports car, or fulfill your lifelong dreams (maybe you've been wanting to open a bookstore, an arcade, or start your own publishing company). Make a to-do list, both of large and small things, and prioritize.
  13. Make that list of your desires, goals and motivations where you want to move towards to. Keeping them in mind will help you feel energized and willing to take any step needed to achieve them.

after staring at it for about a minute,
I, then replied, "agoy kataas tawn, kapoy basa!",

toink! WHAT A SOLUTION INDEED! :)

Tadaima! I'm back! Nandito na me!

After exactly one year and six months, I am writing again in this bonggang blog of mine.

Actually, I didn't plan to write anything, I just wanted to view this for a little while but then my feeling-beautiful-yet-not-and-is-angry-right-now-coz-she-is-currently-reading-this friend asked, begged, and forced me to write something.

So here I am.

The main and obvious reason for my LOOOONNNNNGGGGGG abstinence is of course, as the name of my blog suggests, my never-ending-laziness. Yes, I admit, I may be one of the laziest persons residing in my country. Okay, that was an understatement. It truly is an understatement, I tell you. As proof, due to my unwavering laziness, I now end this post. I'm getting tired. see?

P.S. If you're wondering who that 'friend' is, ask my classmates, they all know who...

pinakaunang POSTE**

this is my **FIRST POST in this blog of mine (clap, clap, clap),

sa binisaya pa, ang akong pinakaunang poste, ahahaha! Lingaw lage ning inani dah. I've always wanted to have a blog.. it's more like a journal, and stuff like that or kaha diary, haha! enweiz, i'm just here to say, i'm officially a blogger now. haha. drama ah!

the temptations...
and my giving in to them...

You're probably
wondering what i'm talking about right now... me too. di bitaw. ana ni xa...

Here's the whole story:
Last week, i think.. o, last week lage 'to.. nakuha nako ako grado sa programming.. i almost fainted..shocks.. liit grabe.. sakit sa dughan pare.. pero actually, nag-expect nako ato.. pero sakit japon.. saonz taman.. nagTINAPULAN man gud.. gisamotan pa jud sa akong ka-adik sa internet.. especially onemanga and friendster.. hahai..life..
Enweiz, mao 'to xa.. tungod ato, i made a PLEDGE. A pledge not to open onemanga and friendster until finals namo.. kung nagtuo mong sayon na, di tawn! naghuna-huna man unta ko ato ug ban (banishment) sa ako self from the internet jud.. pero that's truly impossible, so ningsettle nlang ko ato nga pwamiz..
And infairness to me, it went on for a week! yeah, it was really hard though.. pugonging myself nga dili mutan-aw sa onemanga.. hangtod kadugayan, wa nako natiis, mintan-aw ko sa updates.. pero la jud ko minbasa ug manga.. ningsettle lang ko ug tan-aw sa updates.. nindot na unta 'to xa.. kay la pa man 'to kaayo nakabreak sa ako pledge...pero...ganiha...
When i saw the manga i hoped for, B.O.D.Y. had an update.. wa na jud nako natiis, minbasa jud ko.. GRRRR... hate myself.. nalingaw ko ug basa, but then right after, i realized sayop diay 'to! aaaahhhhhhhhh! na-break nako ako pledge! unsaon nlang ni!
..Hangtod karon, nagsisi japon ko, pero la nakong magagawa.. paniguruon na lang jud ni nako nga mabawi pa nako ako programming..hahay..el, bogo! lapi, bogo!
So for short, na-TEMPTED ko. and i hate it. hate myself for doing it. but cant do anything bout it. grr..
